|Situated in the heart of Bucktown, the site, only 24’ x 100’, is smaller than the typical Chicago lot, posed a slight challenge to fit the entire program and the budget. The client’s intent was to have a modern, but livable space that was low maintenance. The solution was a +2700 SF masonry clad wood framed structure that was softened with a low maintenance Prodema wood rain screen exterior and an architectural ground faced finished concrete masonry unit. |
The simple front façade integrated with the existing neighborhood streetscape, but the rear façade was meant to be playful and with the cantilevered second floor, the use of interior space was extended without compromising the little square footage of the rear yard.
